“Trusting in the sanity and the restraint of the United States is not a strategy and it is not an option”
In 2002 G.W. Bush in his State of the Union address to congress laid out the plan for the war on terror that threatened the Homeland. Most of the focus was on the attacks of 9/11 to justify an invasion the following year.
“In four short months, our nation has comforted the victims, begun to rebuild New York and the Pentagon, rallied a great coalition, captured, arrested, and rid the world of thousands of terrorists, destroyed Afghanistan’s terrorist training camps, saved a people from starvation, and freed a country from brutal oppression.”
– George W. Bush
Not much has changed over the years. The same rhetoric comes from the current administration. Back then, the decision to install Bush was thought by many to be a mistake and the beginning of the end for America. It was Dumb then, and Dumber today that has taken over the White House.
This delivery however, sums up what we knew then yet few were willing to say.
